Apple Bran Muffins


Try out this healthy treat fitness freaks...1-2 muffins in the morning with milk will make a good breakfast!! These muffins are prepared out from whole wheat and oat bran without using butter and using very less sugar..Thanks to my hubby who brought out this recipe from his gym...

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup oat bran
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup buttermilk
2 egg whites
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3/4 cup apple, shredded and peeled

DIRECTIONS:
Mix flour, oat bran, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon in one bowl. In another bowl mix the buttermilk, oil, and egg whites. Add to the dry ingredients. Stir until dry ingredients are moistened, add the apple.

To bake, spray muffin cups with Pam or other nonstick spray. Pour about 2/3 full batter into each muffin cup. Bake at 375 degrees F for 18-20 minutes.
